Fantasy Pro's Russell Brown released his way-too-early 2025 NFL Mock Draft for the first round of next year's draft. Is it indeed way too early? Absolutely. Are we still going to use this as a barometer for future Atlanta Falcons drafts even though we're definitely not supposed to? Absolutely. In this one, Atlanta looks to add a familiar name for next year's projection.
In Brown's recent mock, the Falcons decide to find their premium pass rusher in Texas A&M edge rusher Nic Scourton.
If Nic Scourton was still at Purdue, he may already be off the board. For now, we’ll wait and see what he does with the Aggies. With that, he’s a powerful pass rusher that disrupts the backfield in a hurry. Per PFF, he earned a 91.0 pass-rush grade in 2023, which was the third-best in the country. At 6-foot-4 and 280 pounds, there’s much to be desired with the talented edge rusher who will only turn 20 years old in August.
Scourton feels like the perfect fit for this regime with how the Falcons value length and elite traits. Scourton even has the production to back up the bet on his elite explosive traits. His 10.0 sacks on the season were tied for eighth-most in the country and ranked first in the Big Ten last season. He also added 50 tackles (33 solo), 15 tackles for loss, three pass deflections and a forced fumble before transferring to the Aggies this season.
