The 2024 rookies for the Atlanta Falcons are all in town and getting ready to start their rookie minicamp from today, May 10th through Sunday, May 12th. Head coach Raheem Morris states that this is the time for these tryout players to have "some legitimate opportunities to have some tape that we can look at and evaluate." The Falcons roster is currently at 86 players, including the ten free agents they've signed, which leaves "four to five spots" for the 13 players they have brought in to fill.
The challenge of rookie minicamp is there aren't any pads, making it tough to evaluate how these players' skills will translate to the field. When asked about that challenge and what he's looking for from the tryout players, Morris says it is "all about the movement." Morris says the staff looks at "movement, intent and [how they] correct their mistakes."
