Sporting News' Vinnie Iyer revealed the biggest need for all 32 NFL teams as we get through the minicamps and OTAs and steam ahead toward training camp. According to Iyer the Atlanta Falcons are plagued by the same need they've had for over a decade: A pass-rusher off the edge.
The Falcons, by stashing first-round QB Michael Penix Jr., passed on top defensive prospects such as Jared Verse and Dallas Turner to boost their new defensive-minded coach, Raheem Morris.
After another year of not putting premium resources toward fixing the pass rush, Atlanta is banking on huge jumps in development from young players like third-year edge rusher Arnold Ebiketie and rookie, that's right rookie, Bralen Trice. Other than that is Lorenzo Carter, who is good for three to five sacks and around 15 pressures. It sounds like Atlanta is relying on interior defensive playmakers like Grady Jarrett and David Onyemata to buoy the pass-rush for 2024.
Other positions that probably could be included in the conversation are the cornerback and safety positions.
