Next week, the Atlanta Falcons will be back on the clock for the 2024 NFL Draft. New head coach Raheem Morris and company will look to strengthen the roster with playoff expectations after showing the commitment to competing now with prize free agent QB Kirk Cousins.
Today, I look to give us a finalized mock of what he would do if in charge of the Dirty Birds. Check out the mock below, courtesy of MockDraftDatabase:
Round 1, Pick 8: Toledo CB Quinyon Mitchell
The Falcons new head coach Raheem Morris and new DC Jimmy Lake are both defensive back guys, at 1.08 we are giving the Falcons the best CB in the draft and a potential replacement for CB AJ Terrell who has struggled to live up to his first-round expectations.

— Doesn’t allow any WR to beat him over the top; actually offers the sideline due to his arrogant speed
— Patient diagnostic ability that allows him to drive down on the ball
— Recognizes when to play for a PBU and when to play for an INT pic.twitter.com/BdLThOfjTu
Round 2, Pick 43: Georgia WR Ladd McConkey
I feel like this might be a bit of a stretch of Ladd being here, but in the mock simulator I used (MockDraftDatabase) he was still on the board so I slammed the pick. The UGA product is a dominant route runner who would help the Falcons dominate mismatches and form one of the better WR trios in the league with Drake London and Darnell Mooney.

- possibly the best route runner in the class
- great athletic ability, true vertical speed
- makes defenders miss in space
- creates separation at the top of his routes
- quarterback-friendly, settles into zones
- understands leverage and timing pic.twitter.com/GlhCoqspOA
Round 3, Pick 74: Washington EDGE Bralen Trice
The Falcons need a pass-rushing shot in the arm, Ekibete and Jarrett can only do so much. Trice gives a good shot in the arm late and some needed familiarity with new DC Jimmy Lake.
If you are a offensive line prospect in the 2024 NFL Draft, odds are that Bralen Trice has a highlight against you.

Not the biggest or most athletic guy but there's something to be said for his violence, competitiveness and motor that will translate into a rotational role. pic.twitter.com/Vp5BaQtaxE
Round 3, Pick 79: South Carolina QB Spencer Rattler
Kirk Cousins is the new sheriff in town, but the new sheriff is on the wrong side of 35 and coming off an Achilles tear, leading to some serious questions about how long he will last as the Falcons QB1. Rattler is a gunslinging project who has multiple years of experience as a starter and grew each season as a passer. Rattler isn’t perfect, but at this point, he provides some serious upside to a QB room.
Really enjoy watching #SouthCarolina QB Spencer Rattler readjust to pressure or move a step or two over to create new passing lanes for himself. Took a beating at times this year but still would throw down the MOF in the face of pressure.

Been cool to watch his arc as a player. pic.twitter.com/NkvwV6bioQ
Round 4, Pick 109: South Dakota State OL Mason McCormick
The Falcons add to the OL here with Senior Bowl standout Mason McCormick. McCormick is a dominant FCS player who played for FCS powerhouse South Dakota State and should be able to come in and add some much-needed depth to one of the most crucial positions in football, the trenches.

Round 5, Pick 143: Missouri OT Javon Foster
Seeing a trend? With the Falcons adding a veteran QB coming off an injury, they add to the trenches to help solidly the OL with potential swing tackle Javon Foster. Foster was an experienced starter in the SEC with Missouri and could hopefully develop into a potential replacement for either McGary or Matthews if the time comes.

He can be a little clunky in pass pro at times, but he does deliver accurate strikes with his hands. Lands one hand on the chest of the edge rusher and then sinks his hips and anchors in to stop the rush. pic.twitter.com/qpL2Jt68oZ
Round 6, Pick 187: Washington EDGE Zion Tupola-Fetui
Similar to the other EDGE pick I have in this mock, Trice. ZTF has familiarity with the new DC Jimmy Lake. The other reason is I have loved ZTF for about 3 draft cycles now and feel like he would add some serious juice this late in the draft.
Finally getting to breakdown some Washington tape and really like to see this from ZTF. That type of speed and get off is always a huge boost to the defensive line. pic.twitter.com/d7dVlOuiIm

Round 6, Pick 197: Alabama S Jaylen Key
The Falcons add another late-round safety in Jalen Key. Much like Hellams last season, Key is expected to be a depth piece with hopes he could develop into a nice ST contributor.
I'll take that! @Jaylen_Key
