Antonio Brown rejected a $2 million-plus settlement with the woman who has accused him of sexually assaulting her, ESPN reported, citing unidentified sources.
According to the report, Brown had a deadline last Sunday to sign the agreement to pay his former trainer, Britney Taylor, the $2 million in a private settlement. Brown never signed the agreement, which prompted the civil suit to be filed on Tuesday.
His decision not to sign the agreement came one day before the Patriots signed him to the team after he had been released from the Raiders due to multiple preseason issues.
Reportedly, the negotiations between Taylor and Brown began as early as April and included two mediations. According to Taylor's filing, Brown sexually assaulted her twice and raped her once between 2017 and 2018.
The NFL is set to meet Taylor this week and will meet with Brown, as well, according to reports. Brown nor his representatives are expected to be at the meeting with Taylor.
At this point, the NFL hasn't handed a punishment down to Brown, mainly because the suit is civil and not criminal, per reports. However, the league could still suspend him should they find that he violated any league rules.
Brown traveled with the Patriots to Miami and is listed as active on the team's roster for Sunday's game.
