San Francisco offensive tackle Anthony Davis, who announced he was taking "a year or so" away from the NFL in June of 2015 and missed the 2015 season, has applied to the NFL for reinstatement.

If Davis returns, he would be expected to take over for Erik Pears at right tackle along the San Francisco offensive line.
Davis, 26, stepped away from the game before last season because of concerns about concussions.
Per SI.com, Davis has five years and $30 million left on his contact.
