Allen Hurns injury update: Dolphins receiver (concussion) released from hospital image

Dolphins wide receiver Allen Hurns has been released from the hospital and is back in South Florida, according to the Sun-Sentinel.

Hurns suffered a concussion when he collided with safety Jeff Heath while trying to catch a pass in Miami's 31-6 Week 3 loss to the Cowboys at AT&T Stadium on Sunday. He was taken to a Dallas hospital and remained under observation for 24 hours, the Sun-Sentinel's report says.

"That was probably one of the lower points of my career," Dolphins quarterback Josh Rosen told reporters after the game. "I felt really bad about that. Hopefully, he’s okay."

Hurns is in the NFL concussion protocol and it remains unclear when he will be able to return to the field.

Hurns spent last season with the Cowboys, catching 20 passes for 295 yards with two touchdowns in 16 games. Hurns, however, suffered a serious ankle injury in the playoffs and was later released.

The Dolphins signed Hurns to a one-year deal in July and he has tallied three receptions for 41 yards with Miami.

Without Hurns, the Dolphins have just three healthy wide receivers and they worked out four pass-catchers Tuesday, according to the Sun-Sentinel.

Miami (0-3) will host the Chargers (1-2) on Sunday at 1 p.m. ET.
