Chiefs quarterback Alex Smith threw his first interception since Week 3, as Chargers cornerback Jason Verrett picked off Smith on a deep pass intended for Jeremy Maclin in the second quarter at Arrowhead Stadium on Sunday.

Verrett ended Smith's streak at 312 pass attempts without an interception, which is the second-longest streak in NFL history behind only Patriots quarterback Tom Brady (358).

On his fourth completion of the game, a 9-yard pass to Maclin in the first quarter, Smith passed former Browns quarterback Bernie Kosar for second all-time with 309 consecutive passes without an interception.

Smith had gone more than three months without a turnover through the air with the last pick occurring at the hands of Packers cornerback Sam Shields.
