Adrian Peterson earned the NFL's rushing title in 2008 and 2012, and he wants everyone to know he is gunning for his third.
"That's one of my personal goals," Peterson told the Pioneer Press. "I'm sitting here and talking about 2,500 yards (for the season), and I better get the rushing title. So that's definitely one of my goals."

Very lofty goals, indeed. Peterson, 30, is already leading the league with 291 yards in three games, a pace that would leave him about 1,000 yards short of 2,500, so he still has a ways to go. He would be the eighth player in NFL history to top the NFL in rushing three times, and he would become the second-oldest player to do so (Curtis Martin was 31 in 2004).
However, don't expect Peterson to ask Vikings offensive coordinator Norv Turner for special treatment to reach his goals.
"I don't request anything," Peterson said. "I sit back. (Turner's) been doing it for a long time. He's a legend. ... He's been making some good adjustments, and I can't complain. I can't tell him what to do. He's been doing it for way longer than me. So I just do what I'm told."
Peterson will have to put in extra work this Sunday against the Broncos, who have the NFL's top-ranked overall defense.
"Up front, they're strong and fast," Peterson said. "Of course, they have a great linebacker corps and the secondary is stellar, as well. It's going to be the best defense we'll face thus far. We're looking forward to the challenge."
