When the Jets traded for Aaron Rodgers during the 2023 NFL offseason, expectations for the pairing immediately became sky-high.

The logic behind these expectations was simple. The Jets had one of the NFL's best defenses in 2022 and sported some intriguing young weapons on offense. The issue was that they didn't have a quality quarterback on the team, as Zach Wilson proved to be a disappointment in his two seasons as a starter after being the No. 2 pick in the 2021 NFL Draft.

Rodgers looks like a huge upgrade for the Jets on paper. Sure, he is coming off a down year, but he won the NFL MVP award in both 2020 and 2021 and has perennially been among the league's best quarterbacks. The 39-year-old is in the twilight of his career, but he still should have enough in the tank to make New York a contender.

The Packers were often among the best teams in the NFC during Rodgers' 15-year run as Green Bay's starter. But how often did that success end in a Super Bowl run? Here's what to know about Rodgers' Super Bowl history, including how many rings he has won during his career to date.

POWER RANKINGS: Where Jets rank among NFL's best teams entering 2023

How many Super Bowls has Aaron Rodgers won?

Aaron Rodgers has won just one Super Bowl in his career to date. That came in Super Bowl 45 when the Packers defeated the Steelers 31-25 in Rodgers' third year as a starter.

Since then, Rodgers has not made it back to the Super Bowl. The Packers made it to the NFC championship games four more times with Rodgers as their quarterback, but they lost each of them. Below are the results from those four contests.

Year Opponent Score
2015 Seahawks Lost 28-22
2017 Falcons Lost 44-21
2020 49ers Lost 37-20
2021 Buccaneers Lost 31-26

So, Rodgers will be looking to make it back to the Super Bowl for the first time in 13 years in his first season with the Jets. As for New York, it is just looking to go to the playoffs for the first time in 12 seasons.

IYER: Why Aaron Rodgers, Jets will win Super Bowl 58

How many Super Bowls have the Jets won?

Like Rodgers, the Jets have won just one Super Bowl in their history. That came all the way back in 1969, when "Broadway" Joe Namath led New York to a 16-7 win over the Baltimore Colts in Super Bowl 3. That marked the AFL's first Super Bowl win over the NFL and is considered one of the greatest upsets in Super Bowl history.

Incredibly, the Jets have not appeared in a Super Bowl since their victory in 1969. Even stranger, they have made it to the AFC championship game four times since then, the same number of NFC championship games Rodgers has been to since his Super Bowl victory.

Below is a look at the results of New York's AFC championship game appearances.

Year Opponent Score
1983 Dolphins Lost 14-0
1999 Broncos Lost 23-10
2010 Colts Lost 30-17
2011 Steelers Lost 24-19

Perhaps the Rodgers/Jets pairing is exactly what the two sides need to get over the proverbial hump. After all, New York has a very strong roster and was just a quarterback away from boasting a potential contender. That's part of the reason that SN's Vinnie Iyer is picking the Jets to win the Super Bowl.

We'll soon see if those expectations are too lofty. But at the very least, Jets fans will be hoping that Rodgers can end the Jets' 12-season playoff drought, which currently stands as the NFL's longest.
