Aaron Rodgers believes that silence is (Packer green and) golden.
The Packers quarterback and Green Bay are still locked in a stand-off as the NFL calendar inches closer and closer to training camp, with Rodgers still a no-show for all team activities. He has made a few public appearances, though, with the Kentucky Derby and Tuesday's "The Match 4" among them.
Speaking with ESPN ahead of the golf match, Rodgers offered some words on his lack of words this offseason:
"Sometimes the loudest person in the room is not the smartest person," Rodgers said. "Sometimes the loudest person in the room is not the person who has all the facts on their side or the truth on their side. Sometimes there's a lot of wisdom in silence. Sometimes there's a lot of wisdom in being selective on what you say."

Rodgers' words, however existential and true, may be a thinly veiled shot at Packers president Mark Murphy. Murphy has made several headlines this offseason for his handling of the Rodgers situation, including calling him a "complicated fella" at a Lambeau Field event in mid-June.
Rodgers says that he's been spending his offseason focusing on his mental health, clarifying that he hasn't had bouts with depression, rather working on things that keep his body and mind sound.
It is yet unclear what ignited Rodgers' rift with the organization, but reports suggest that Rodgers wants GM Brian Gutekunst fired.
And if Rodgers continues to be a man of his word, then don't expect to hear how that schism started, either.
