When the 49ers travel to play the Seahawks to open Week 15 of the 2022 NFL season on "Thursday Night Football (8:15 p.m ET, Amazon Prime Video), they will be looking to wrap up the NFC West title.

San Francisco (9-4) has a two-game lead over Seattle (7-6) in the division race and won the first battle in Week 2. So should the 49ers get to 10-4 and the Seahawks drop to 7-7, the division race will be finished with three games left to play.

The 49ers' offense is rolling with Christian McCaffrey and needing to go to rookie seventh-rounder Brock Purdy at QB hasn't changed much. The Seahawks have gotten a big year from Geno Smith throwing to DK Metcalf and Tyler Lockett, and will have promising young workhorse back Kenneth Walker III (ankle) returning after a one-week absence.

Here's everything to know about betting on 49ers vs. Seahawks in Week 15, including updated odds, trends and our prediction for "Thursday Night Football."

NFL WEEK 15 PICKS: Against the spread | Straight-up predictions

49ers vs. Seahawks odds for Thursday Night Football

  • Spread: 49ers by 3.5
  • Over/under: 43.5
  • Moneyline: 49ers -185, Seahawks +150

The 49ers are comfortable favorites but they are still having a rookie quarterback make his first start in a hostile road environment. They are trying to win their seventh consecutive game. The total reflects a grinding, physical game.

49ers vs. Seahawks all-time series

The Seahawks have a surprising 30-18 decided edge in the previous 48 meetings. The 49ers ended a four-game losing streak by winning in Week 2, 27-7 at San Francisco. The Seahawks have won five of eight overall. Before that, the Seahawks had won 10 straight.

Three trends to know

—68 percent of spread bettors are feeling great about the red-hot 49ers taking care of business well above a field-goal final.

—57 percent of total bettors are siding with the over given some of the offensive skill players on both teams.

—The 49ers are 8-5 against the spread this season with six games going over. The Seahawks are 6-7 ATS with eight games going over.

Three things to watch

Purdy on the road for the first time

Purdy was great in relief against the Dolphins and aced his first start with an effective run-heavy offense against the Buccaneers. Those games were in Santa Clara. Loud Seattle is a different story, so he needs to manage that a good Seahawks defense to keep the 49ers from stumbling.

Smith vs. the 49ers again

Smith is having a Comeback Player of the Year season with his breakout efficient play, led by his league-leading 71.5 completion percentage. But he was roughed up by the 49ers in Week 2, being held to fewer than 200 yards and no TDs. He needs to rebound at home badly given it's very hard to run on the 49ers.

Bosa vs. the Seahawks' offensive line

A big reason why Smith was rocked in the first matchup was 49ers defensive end Bosa, who had both sacks against him. Bosa again will go to work on good rookie left tackle Charles Cross. Bosa is eager to get on the field and disrupt the game at a high level and will play with high energy in prime time.

Stats that matter

75.1 (No. 1) vs. 160.5 (No. 31). The 49ers have the best run defense in the NFL, giving up that first number as their average rushing yards allowed. The Seahawks have dropped to second-to-last with that second number, getting dangerously close to falling behind the Texans. In their past three losses, they have allowed an average of 37 rushing attempts.

49ers vs. Seahawks prediction

McCaffrey and rookie Jordan Mason should run all over the Seahawks behind the 49ers' dominant blocking, making it a very comfortable night at the office for Purdy. They won't force things in the passing game without Deebo Samuel and take the simple throws inside playing off the run.

The Seahawks won't be able to run well with Walker and Smith will see plenty of pressure. Look for the 49ers to grind things out and shorten the game coming off a short week.

49ers 24, Seahawks 17
