The Eagles (0-2-1) will be looking for their first win of the 2020 NFL season when they travel to play the 49ers (2-1) on "Sunday Night Football" in Week 4. Philadelphia tied Cincinnati last week, while reigning NFC champion San Francisco has gotten over .500 by beating the New York teams on the road in back-to-back games.

Carson Wentz has not been playing well for the Eagles, but once again, they can rebound quickly behind the Cowboys and Washington Football Team, who are current co-division leaders in the weak NFC East with 1-2 records. The 49ers have pulled even with the Cardinals and Rams in the NFC West, but they still are looking up the 3-0 Seahawks.

Will Philadelphia dig deep to avoid a bigger hole? Or will San Francisco bury the visitors?

Here's everything to know about betting on 49ers vs. Eagles in Week 4, including updated odds, trends and our expert's prediction for "Sunday Night Football."

49ers vs. Browns odds for "Sunday Night Football"

  • Spread: 49ers by 8.5
  • Over/under: 45.5
  • Point spread odds: Eagles -105, 49ers -115

The line has gone over a touchdown and extra point because the Eagles' injuries are starting to outweigh the 49ers' health concerns, plus they are not playing well while going on a long road trip.

Eagles vs. 49ers all-time series

The 49ers hold a 19-13-1 edge. The teams have not met since 2017, when the Eagles went on to win Super Bowl 52. They won that matchup, 33-10 in Philadelphia. Before then the 49ers had a two-game winning streak, turning around the Eagles' five-game winning streak going back to 2005.

Three trends to know

— 63 percent of over/under bettors like the game to go over the point total, despite some offensive limitations on the Eagles, more tied to some offensive returns for the 49ers.

— 52 percent of spread bettors like the Eagles because of the larger than expected number. 56 of bettors like the Eagles to win outright on the moneyline.

— The 49ers have covered and seen the total go over in their two wins. The Eagles have failed to cover and seen the total go over in their two losses.

Three things to watch

George Kittle and Deebo Samuel are back

Kittle, the 49ers' dominant receiving tight end, is back from a knee injury for a great matchup against the Eagles' linebackers and safeties. Samuel, the 49ers' tough and quick young wide receiver, is making his season debut after an offseason foot injury. Look for the 49ers to put them in position to get open everywhere on short-to-intermediate targets and make big plays after the catch.

Miles Sanders is the Eagles' offense

Sanders, who missed Week 1 with a hamstring injury, has been as dynamic as advertised as the Eagles' talented second-year back. He produced as a runner and a receiver in the games against the Rams and Bengals. He's playing through a glute injury in Week 4. He should get fed the ball often with Wentz struggling and the Eagles' receiving corps down to Zach Ertz and Greg Ward as reliable options.

Wentz vs. Nick Mullens

Wentz is taking lumps and throwing interceptions trying to do too much. Mullens, filling in for Jimmy Garoppolo again, will try to build on playing within the offense, using his backs, Kittle and Samuel for another big passing day. The advantage strangely goes to Mullens at the game's most important position in this particular contest.

Stats that matter

116.7 and 106.3. Those are the respective average rushing yards per game allowed by the 49ers, who rank No. 16 against the run, and the Eagles, who rank No. 8. There could some tough sledding for both Sanders and the 49ers' replacement rushing committee. The teams will do their best to grind away on the ground, but the receiving and passing game matchups will ultimately be key.

Eagles vs. 49ers prediction

The Eagles will come out desperate and fly around defensively, stopping the run and forcing Mullens to throw often. He'll eventually be comfortable doing that with Kittle and Samuel giving him confidence. Wentz will keep the Eagles around with more grittiness and a cleaner game, but it will not be enough.

49ers 23, Eagles 20
