Updated 2024 NFL Draft order: Bears maintain hold of top spot after Panthers loss, Patriots win image

Week 14 was a slate with major playoff implications all over. Division leaders were swapped, playoff positions were lost and backup quarterbacks are keeping teams' hopes afloat.

However, that's not the only race worthy of attention. For every contender, there is a pretender with their eyes on the No. 1 pick in the 2024 NFL Draft.

Teams are officially being eliminated from postseason contention, as the Panthers and Panthers are the first two teams out of the playoff hunt after their Week 14 results. Soon, a number of others will join them, with their focus turning toward the offseason and next year's draft.

For as much as the top of the standings shifted, nothing changed with the No. 1 pick in the draft. Coming into this week, the Bears — via the Panthers — had the top selection thanks to Carolina's league-worst record. With the Patriots a game ahead of the Panthers and owning the tiebreaker, the results from this week were not going impact Chicago's or New England's rank in the draft.

Here's an updated look at the 2024 NFL Draft order through Sunday's games:

NFL Draft 2024 top prospects

The 2024 NFL Draft has a number of talented quarterbacks, and they could very well be the first two names off the board. USC's Caleb Williams and North Carolina's Drake Maye are the consensus top options at the position, and could be the No. 1 and No. 2 pick in the draft.

Washington's Michael Penix Jr. and LSU's Heisman Trophy winner Jayden Daniels are among other potential first- or second-round prospects at quarterback. Ohio State's Marvin Harrison Jr. leads a wide receiver room that is loaded. Florida State's Keon Coleman and Washington's Rome Odunze are also among the highly touted pass-catchers.

Offensive tackle is another position of strength in this draft class, as Penn State's Olu Fashanu and Notre Dame's Joe Alt are both projected to be top-10 picks.

As for the defensive side of the ball, Alabama standouts Kool-Aid McKinstry and Dallas Turner are among the top defensive prospects.
