It's looking as if the New York Jets will have at least nine of 11 defensive starters ready to go for Thursday Night Football against the New England Patriots.

Boundary cornerback DJ Reed and slot cornerback Michael Carter II were both full participants for the second straight practice and do not carry an injury designation heading into the September 19 home opener. Reed has been nursing a sore knee while Carter has an ankle issue that may linger for the near future.

The Jets lost two defensive players during their Week 2 win over the Tennessee Titans. While edge rusher Jermaine Johnson is done for the season due to an Achilles tear, veteran linebacker CJ Mosley is officially questionable to play on Thursday night. Mosley left Sunday's game with a big toe injury and did not return. He has been listed as a non-participant three days in a row.

"Carter, like I said, it's going to be an on and off thing. He's going to be fine. DJ is progressing well and so is CJ," said head coach Robert Saleh

Should Mosley be unavailable, Jamien Sherwood is in line to start at linebacker alongside Quincy Williams. Sherwood, a 2021 fifth-round draft pick, was on field for 82 percent of defensive snaps in Nashville.

Jets' bellcow ball carrier Breece Hall has been on the injury report this week due to a quadriceps problem, but has fully participated in all practices. He is good to go for the home opener at MetLife Stadium.

Meanwhile, the visiting Patriots have question marks in multiple key spots. New England has already declared out four players, including linebacker Ja'Whaun Bentley.

The starting left side of the Pats' offensive line is also unavailable for Thursday night with tackle Vederian Lowe and guard Sidy Sow both out. Starting center David Andrews and right tackle Mike Onwenu are questionable after participating on a limited basis Wednesday.

On New England's defense, starting safety Jabrill Peppers and defensive end Deatrich Wise are also in the questionable column.

The Jets are looking to end an eight-game home losing streak in its series with the Patriots. The game will kick off at 8:15 pm ET on Amazon Prime.
