Whether it was intentional or not, San Francisco 49ers' defensive end Nick Bosa has thrown shade at the New York Jets.
The 49ers opened the season with a 32-19 victory over the Jets, and Bosa seemingly wasn't impressed by Gang Green. As San Francisco prepares to face the Minnesota Vikings, and quarterback Sam Darnold, in Week 2, Bosa suggested that the team's next opponent presents an even greater challenge than the Jets in Week 1.
Bosa, a four-time Pro Bowl selection, hinted that the Vikings are more formidable than New York on multiple fronts.
"This week, I think we're playing a better, honestly, a better team. They're playing better football, it looks like," said Bosa while addressing reporters at his locker.
One area that Bosa is focusing on is the run game. The 49ers limited Jets' superstar Breece Hall to 3.4 yards per carry. New York netted only 68 rush yards.
"They [the Vikings] run the ball well and we're gonna have to be better in our techniques. We kind of got away with some things last week. We have to hone in and not pat ourselves on the back," said Bosa.
The Jets moved the chains only thrice on run plays. Bosa was credited with two tackles. The 49ers also took advantage of an interception and a fumble.
"I was really happy watching the defense from the sidelines. I thought they were running and hitting. That's the thing that jumps out the most," said 49ers' head coach Kyle Shanahan after the win. "They [the Jets] got a few big plays on us on a couple drives that got them moving. But for the most part, I thought we were winning most of the downs. Gave up a couple big ones that we have to clean up."
