NFL player prop totals point to monster season for New York Jets' RB image

Newly-released NFL running back wagering totals suggest that New York Jets' RB1 Breece Hall could break the 1,000-yard rushing barrier for the first time while potentially repeating the receiving production he accounted for in 2023.

In his first season back from ACL surgery, Hall appeared in all 17 games and finished six rush yards shy of 1,000. He led all NFL running backs in pass receptions (76), and the 2022 second-round draft pick did all of it behind a patchwork offensive line coupled with underwhelming quarterback play.

Hall, who returned to play 10.5 months after suffering a serious knee injury, totaled 1,585 scrimmage yards in 2023. San Francisco 49ers' workhorse Christian McCaffrey was the lone running back to beat that mark.

In terms of Hall's potential statistical production this upcoming season, BetOnline unveiled somewhat ambitious player prop totals ahead of the 2024 season. Here's a look at three of the wagers and what they mean for Hall, who should receive a boost from the return of quarterback Aaron Rodgers.

Total Rush Yards (Regular Season)

OVER/UNDER 1025.5
Projection: OVER [Best Bet]
Only four running backs were listed with higher rushing prop totals than Hall, who has averaged 4.8 yards per carry over his first 24 career appearances. With the Jets likely not playing from behind as much as they did in 2023, Hall should theoretically see an increase in rushing attempts. His every-down ability means that he should see a super majority of running back snaps.

Total Receptions (Regular Season)

OVER/UNDER 65.5
Projection:
UNDER
Hall will still play a significant part in the Jets' pass offense, but some of his touches are likely to turn from catches to carries. While there will be pass plays designed to target Hall, the running back will not be needed in a safety valve role with Rodgers at the controls. For comparison, Green Bay Packers' RB1 Aaron Jones made 59 receptions on 72 targets starting alongside Rodgers in 2022.

Total Receiving Yards (Regular Season)

OVER/UNDER 550.5
Projection:
OVER
Hall totaled 591 yards receiving last season for one of the league's most inept pass offenses. I think his targets will drop from the 95 he saw in 2023, but the yardage total shouldn't suffer greatly. The dynamic running back appears in line for 55-60 receptions, he's bound to break a couple long ones that go the distance and allow him to eclipse the proposed season total.
