The Jets are doing their homework on one of the best wide receiver prospects in the 2024 NFL draft.

New York will meet with Washington wideout Rome Odunze this week for a top-30 visit, according to Bleacher Report's Jordan Schultz. Odunze caught 92 receptions for 1,640 yards and 13 touchdowns for the Huskies in 2023 after he tallied 75 catches for 11,45 yards and seven touchdowns in 2022.

Odunze's visit doesn't definitively mean he's a target for the Jets with the No. 10 overall pick, but New York's cursory interest in him suggests the team could add another wide receiver to the offense for Aaron Rodgers. The Jets signed former Chargers pass-catcher Mike Williams in free agency and also have Garrett Wilson, the 2023 NFL Rookie of the Year.

The Washington product is a scintillating prospect. His 6-foot-3, 200-pound frame is an ideal size for a wide receiver and his yardage led the nation this past season. Pro Football Focus compared him to Saints wide receiver Chris Olave, while The Ringer's Danny Kelly wrote that Odunze has "shades of" Raiders superstar Davante Adams.

The biggest issue for Odunze is if he'd even be available with the No. 10 pick for the Jets. Many of the other teams ahead of the Jets could use another wide receiver, and other teams could trade up to snag Odunze if he's still available.

While wide receiver isn't necessarily the biggest need for the Jets, Odunze would be a welcome addition to the offense. Running back Breece Hall and tight end Tyler Conklin were the only other pass-catchers on the Jets after Wilson who registered at least 25 receptions. Other wide receivers like Allen Lazard, Xavier Gipson and Randall Cobb had fewer.

Jets top 30 visits for 2024 draft

Odunze isn't the first player the Jets met with ahead of the 2024 draft.

New York also visited with USC wide receiver Brenden Rice, the son of NFL Hall-of-Famer Jerry Rice, as well as Florida State quarterback Jordan Travis, Samford quarterback Michael Hiers and Colorado State edge rusher Mohamed Kamara.

The Jets will assuredly meet with many more prospects in the weeks leading up to the draft.
