Well, that's an unexpected twist in the Haason Reddick holdout saga.

The New York Jets edge rusher has missed the first 21 days of training camp due to a contract dispute, and it appears that he's had enough. NFL insider Jordan Schultz is reporting that Reddick has informed the Jets "he wants to be traded, per multiple sources."

While letting homegrown pass rusher Bryce Huff go to the Philadelphia Eagles in free agency, the Jets made a trade with Philly for Reddick. With one year remaining on his contract, Reddick requested a new deal from the Eagles prior to the trade. The two-time Pro Bowl selection apparently informed New York that he intended to participate in the organization's offseason program but has been a no-show ever since.

Reddick, who led the Eagles in sacks the last two seasons, did not attend voluntary OTAs and also sat out mandatory June minicamp. His protest has continued into the summer, leading up to Monday's reported trade request.

The Jets have said they will not negotiate with a player who is not present at the facility, but the organization currently finds itself in between a rock and a hard place. With Huff and John Franklin-Myers no longer around, Reddick is needed to replace a bulk of last snaps. He is under contract for approximately $14.1 million in earnings this season but has incurred a $50K daily fine during his holdout.

New York gave up a conditional third-round draft pick for Reddick in March. Set to turn 30 years old on September 22, the 2017 first-round draft pick has made 58.0 career sacks.
