With San Francisco 49ers' running back Christian McCaffrey on the shelf, the NFL RB1 title is up for grabs and New York Jets' starter Breece Hall has a chance to claim it.
Despite managing only 3.4 yards per rush attempt in New York's season-opening setback, Hall is likely looking at a heavy workload again in Week 2 against the Tennessee Titans. After 21 touches last week against the San Francisco 49ers, Hall is a must-start against the Titans in every fantasy football format.
On the flip side, fantasy managers should stay away from Jets' tight end Tyler Conklin.
Here are your Week 2 Start-Sit suggestions for the Jets in Nashville.
START: RB Breece Hall
In addition to carrying 16 times for 54 yards, Hall caught five of six receiving targets for 39 yards in Week 1. Posing a dual threat out of the backfield, the Jets will likely feed a steady dose of Hall to the defense in hopes of opening up the aerial attack for future Hall-of-Fame quarterback Aaron Rodgers.
Hall, who led New York's paltry offense with nine touchdowns last year, was the first Jet to score in 2024. His three-yard TD rush capped a 12-play, 70-yard first-quarter drive against the 49ers. Hall totaled four first downs (2 rec, 2 rush) in the opener.
Being a rare three-down back in today's NFL, Hall saw 82 percent of offensive snaps in Week 1. Although that may tick down a shade against Tennessee, Hall is in line to have one of the highest snap percentages amongst NFL running backs.
SIT: TE Tyler Conklin
Some were expecting the presence of Rodgers to make Conklin into a fantasy football darling, but early results suggest that the Jets' TE1 should remain on your bench. Conklin was a complete non-factor in the passing game against San Francisco.
Despite playing 90 percent of snaps, Conklin garnered only two targets as a receiver. He finished with one catch for six yards.
It appears there may not be enough touches to go around for Conklin to be a significant option in the passing game. There's WR1 Garrett Wilson and Rodgers's longtime teammate Allen Lazard who combined for 20 targets in the opener and that's without factoring Mike Williams into the equation. Then, there's the fact that Hall led all NFL running backs in receptions (76) one year ago.
Making Conklin unstartable until proven otherwise, he has zero touchdowns in any of his last 27 games with the Jets.
The Jets and the Titans are scheduled for a 1:00 pm ET kickoff on September 15.
