Davante Adams' fate with the New York Jets has finally been revealed. Since the news of Aaron Rodgers' expected departure, the expectation has been that Adams will also not return to New York in 2025, and NFL Network's Ian Rapoport confirmed that expectation on Sunday.
Rapoport tweeted that the Jets are taking calls on Adams and are open to trading him before the start of the new league year. He also adds that the team will likely release the star receiver if they can't find a trade partner, and a reunion with Rodgers elsewhere is on the table.
Adams was traded to the Jets from the Las Vegas Raiders during the 2024 trade deadline. Though acquiring the six-time Pro Bowler didn't lead to many wins for New York, Adams still had a productive 2024 campaign, hauling in 85 receptions for 1,063 yards and eight touchdowns in 14 games.
The three-time All-Pro is still one of the most consistent pass catchers in football and should have a few teams vying for his services. Adams has two years left on his contract and a $38.3 million cap hit in 2025. The Jets would save $29.8 million by cutting or trading the former second-round pick before June 1st.
