The New York Giants continued OTAs on Thursday, and there was a guest appearance made by former Pro Bowl wide receiver Steve Smith.

Smith has been at the Giants' offseason workouts before, and it stems from his history working with general manager Joe Schoen.

Smith played the majority of his career with the Carolina Panthers, which is where Schoen got his own career started in 2001, spending seven years as a scouting assistant (2001) and area scout (2002-2007).

Daboll offered some insight into why Smith was attending Giants OTAs on Thursday.

"We have a good relationship with him, Joe and I. He's coming out watching practice. I think he's a good sounding board for some of the young guys, particularly some of the young receivers," Daboll said. "So he'll be here a couple of days. We have a good relationship with Steve. Joe, obviously at Carolina, and I've known him. I have a lot of respect for his game, how he's played. We had him last year too."

Smith was seen working with Jalin Hyatt and Malik Nabers, two of the Giants' promising young receivers.

It's not a bad idea at all for the young wideouts to get some knowledge from the five-time Pro Bowler and three-time All-Pro receiver.

The Giants' passing game is something that needs to improve greatly if they want a chance to compete in 2024. Hopefully, the young wideouts can translate some of Smith's knowledge into their own games.
