The New York Giants have done extensive work on the quarterback class in the 2024 NFL draft, and chiefly at the top of that list is Michigan's J.J. McCarthy.

While making an appearance Wednesday on the Rich Eisen Show, McCarthy said he spent the most time throughout the pre-draft process with the Giants, who hold the No. 6 overall pick in the first round.

The Giants have been linked to just about every quarterback in this class not named Caleb Williams. They've done extensive work on this class, and it's a very real possibility they use their first-round pick on a quarterback to supplant Daniel Jones.

Even though Jones is technically under contract for the next three seasons, the Giants have an out following the 2024 season. As Jones works his way back from a torn ACL, there's a chance the Giants would feel more comfortable adding an insurance policy.

If McCarthy is their guy, Big Blue won't be without competition. There has been loud chatter about the Minnesota Vikings potentially trading up ahead of the Giants to grab McCarthy.

The Giants hold a premium pick, and there are a few ways they can go about adding supreme talent even if it's not at the quarterback position. There's a chance one of the blue-chip wide receiver prospects falls to them at No. 6. Any one of the Big 3 would be a strong addition.

Where the Giants will go with the No. 6 pick is a total mystery with roughly 24 hours left until the draft, but there's plenty of smoke in terms of the interest in McCarthy.
