New York Giants release former draft pick with injury settlement image

The New York Giants released running back Gary Brightwell from the Reserve/Injured list with an injury settlement Monday.

Brightwell was waived/injured on May 30 due to an undisclosed injury. After he cleared waivers, he reverted to the Reserve/Injured list.

A sixth-round pick (No. 196 overall) in the 2021 NFL Draft by the Giants, Brightwell appeared in 37 games without making a start during his first three seasons in the league.

He recorded 41 rushing attempts for 164 yards and one touchdown while adding 11 receptions for 92 receiving yards.

A product of the University of Arizona, the 25-year-old running back will now become a free agent after being released with an injury settlement.
