NFL Draft: Giants trying to trade up for QB Drake Maye, per report image

The New York Giants reportedly are looking to trade up to the No. 3 overall pick in the 2024 NFL draft in hopes of selecting a quarterback, according to Jordan Schultz of Bleacher Report.

Currently holding the No. 6 overall pick, the Giants have done extensive work on the quarterback class. That includes North Carolina's Drake Maye, who may be the target for the Giants if they can move up to No. 3 overall on Thursday night.

While it makes sense that the Giants would try to move up for a quarterback they want, they may not have the ammunition to pull off a trade.

The Patriots likely aren't moving off the No. 3 overall pick unless they are blown away with an offer, and there are reports that New England is prepared to take Maye if they don't get a substantial offer.

Maye is a polarizing prospect. He has all the traits to be a successful NFL quarterback but there are concerns that stem from a lack of consistent footwork and a tendency to make reckless decisions.

With Daniel Jones still recovering from a torn ACL along with a lack of conviction that he can be the long-term option, the Giants certainly are in the market to draft a quarterback.

Whether they'll be able to pull off a trade to grab one of the top three in the class is something we'll be watching for throughout Thursday.
