The New York Giants (2-4) couldn't come away with an upset win at home, dropping Sunday night's game, 17-7, against the Cincinnati Bengals (2-4).
The game got off to a rough start with Joe Burrow running free for a 47-yard touchdown on the opening drive. The defense settled down after that, though, and wound up putting together a strong outing.
The offense, on the other hand, couldn't string together many drives and failed to finish throughout the entire night.
Here's our recap from the Giants' tough loss in Week 6.

Keys to the game
- The Giants pushed the envelope on fourth down, going for it on five separate occasions and converting three of them.
- Greg Joseph, who had made his last eight field-goal attempts, missed a potential game-tying attempt from 47 yards in the fourth quarter. He also missed another attempt on the final drive.
- Daniel Jones struggled to find a rhythm in the passing game, completing 22-of-41 passes (53.7%) for 205 yards, no touchdowns, one interception and a 57.5 passer rating.
Stars of the Game
- OLB Brian Burns: The big money edge rusher came to play. He had one sack, two quarterback hits and two tackles for loss.
- DT Dexter Lawrence: Sexy Dexy continues his push for the NFC Defensive Player of the Year award. Lawrence had one sack, one quarterback hit and a tackle for loss to go along with several pressures.

Biggest takeaway
The Giants completely wasted a fantastic defensive game that involved just a handful of hiccups, including Joe Burrow's 47-yard touchdown run on the opening drive. They had a chance to steal a fumble late in the fourth quarter, but failed to scoop it up before it went out of bounds. On the next play, Chase Brown zoomed his way to a dagger 30-yard touchdown.
The defense put together a promising effort, especially without Kayvon Thibodeaux, but the Giants simply couldn't get enough going on offense.
Quick Hits
- Daniel Jones' struggles at home continue. He hasn't thrown a touchdown pass at MetLife Stadium in 651 days.
- After allowing a touchdown on the opening drive, the Giants defense forced a punt on five consecutive drives to end the first half.
- The Giants offense was just 5-of-15 on third-down attempts while averaging 4.2 yards per play.
Injuries
- WR Malik Nabers (concussion), RB Devin Singletary (groin), P Jamie Gillan (hamstring), OLB Kayvon Thibodeaux (wrist) and WR Bryce Ford-Wheaton (shoulder) were inactive.
- WR Ihmir Smith-Marsette suffered a foot injury during the first half of the game.
- WR Darius Slayton was evaluated for a concussion in the second half and was cleared to return.
