The New York Giants are currently focused on the preseason and trimming the roster to 53 players over the next few weeks.

With that said, it's never a bad idea to take a look at some potentially available players during the upcoming free agency period.

As the questions surrounding the cornerback position arise, the Giants could very well find themselves in a situation where they need to address that area of the depth chart again.

When it comes to potentially available options in 2025 free agency, veteran D.J. Reed was mentioned as the best fit for the Giants, according to Bleacher Report's Matt Holder.

"New York is fairly young at cornerback where second-year pro Deonte Banks, 23, projects to be its top player at the position this season," Holder wrote. "Reed is coming off an impressive campaign in which he surrendered an 85.1 passer rating when targeted and earned a 79.5 coverage grade, according to Pro Football Focus."

The 27-year-old may be listed at 5-foot-9 and 188 pounds, but he spent almost every snap on the outside during the 2023 season with the New York Jets.

He was pretty solid all around in both man and zone coverage last season. According to Pro Football Focus, Reed recorded a 91.4 passer rating in zone and a 75.8 passer rating in man coverage.

There's a good chance one of the biggest needs for the Giants will be at cornerback next offseason so Reed might be a short-term option New York could target.
