The New Orleans Saints have plenty to worry about in 2024.

After all, there are predictions for a massive regression and a hot seat for Dennis Allen. There’s also huge hype for a rookie quarterback by the name of Spencer Rattler, to the point the Saints have taken some strange steps in an attempt to quiet it.

But there are concerns about 2025, too.

One of those is the fact the team could leak major talent via the open market due to a currently shaky cap situation.

Perhaps the most notable name on this topic is cornerback Paulson Adebo, who just got spotlighted as one of the top 10 free agents in 2025 at Bleacher Report

“The 2021 third-round pick experienced a career campaign after some ups and downs during his first two NFL seasons. Last season, Adebo recorded 18 passes defended, four interceptions, two forced fumbles, two fumble recoveries and an impressive 60 solo tackles.”

It might not sound like a big problem worth worrying about right now, but the projected $78 million over four years suggested in the article is a pretty tough sell for a team that, at least as of this writing, is projected at nearly $100 million over the cap in 2025.

Sure, the team has started to draft at this concern, too, adding Kool-Aid McKinstry in the second round and even getting a breakout in Rico Payton. But if the Saints struggle as many seem to expect, the last thing the team can do is lose contributors at a premium position while the roster and potentially the coaching staff experience big turnover.
