New Orleans Saints cornerback Marshon Lattimore might miss the team’s Week 2 game against the Dallas Cowboys after suffering an injury in the opener.
While good vibes dominated the post-game dismantling of the Carolina Panthers in 47-10 fashion, the fact Lattimore left the game early and didn’t return wasn’t lost on fans.
Early this week, after Lattimore himself downplayed the injury, NFL Network’s Ian Rapoport reported that while the injury is indeed “minor” in a sense, it might keep him out of Week 2 action, anyway.
That would be less than ideal, obviously, but more concerning is the latest setback becoming a trend. Lattimore had a hip flexor injury that cost him a chunk of training camp. He only suited up in 10 games last year and seven the year prior, too.
Complicating matters further is the questionable depth at the spot, with Kool-Aid McKinstry merely a rookie and Payton Rico an undrafted (albeit big-upside, too) rookie.
On paper, Week 1 was the perfect tune-up for Lattimore to get back into the full swing of things before needing to deal with the lineup of CeeDee Lamb, Brandin Cooks and other weapons around Dak Prescott for Dallas.
Now, given the fickle nature of hamstring injuries, it feels like Week 2 might be a pitch-count game at best while the team eyes the full season.
Lattimore, too, was one of just several notable injuries suffered by the Saints during the win.
