The New England Patriots have over a week before their first regular season game under first-year head coach Jerod Mayo, but there's plenty of work to be done in the meantime.

One task on New England's list is to fill up their practice squad to 17 players after trimming their roster from 90 guys to 53 earlier in the week.

Through Thursday, the Patriots had 13 spots filled, and they're expected to fill at least one more on Friday, as ESPN's Mike Reiss reports that New England is set to sign cornerback Isaiah Bolden to their practice squad after he cleared waivers.

The Patriots drafted the 24-year-old in the seventh round of the 2023 draft after he played collegiately at both Jackson State and Florida State. He was expected to compete for a depth spot on the roster as a rookie, but he suffered a head/neck injury in a preseason game against the Green Bay Packers that cost him his first season.

New England released him during roster cuts, but they clearly believe there's some potential there with bringing him back on the practice squad.

Here's what the group looks like now with 14 players:

  • WR Matt Landers
  • RB Terrell Jennings
  • TE Mitchell Wilcox
  • RB Kevin Harris
  • OT Liam Fornadel
  • DE Jotham Russell
  • DB A.J. Thomas
  • LB Brevin Allen
  • OL Jerome Carvin
  • OL Bryan Hudson
  • DL Trysten Hill
  • OL Michael Jordan
  • WR Jalen Reagor
  • CB Isaiah Bolden
