After the NFL placed New England Patriots safety Jabrill Peppers on the commissioner's exempt list, the team had two open spots and at least one of them has been filled.
On Thursday, New England signed center Ben Brown to their 53-man roster off of the Las Vegas Raiders practice squad and had him practice with the team for the first time.
Brown, 26, played collegiately at Ole Miss before going undrafted in 2022 and signing with the Cincinnati Bengals. He's also spent time with the Seattle Seahawks and Arizona Cardinals.
He's appeared in just one game in his career, playing 15 total snaps (eight on defense and seven on special teams) for the Seahawks in 2023.
New England lost backup center Jake Andrews to a season-ending knee injury in training camp and then lost starting center David Andrews to a torn rotator cuff in the first few weeks. Nick Leverett, who has primarily been a guard in his career, has been starting but didn't look great last Sunday.
The Patriots also have Bryan Hudson and Sincere Haynesworth at the position on the practice squad.
