Former New England Patriots running back Shane Vereen has found his way back into the NFL, but he won't be catching passes out of the backfield anymore.

According to KPRC2's Aaron Wilson, Vereen has accepted a role in the Houston Texans' front office as a player personnel assistant.

Vereen, 35, was the Patriots' second-round pick out of California back in 2011. He played four seasons in New England, helping them win Super Bowl 49 against the Seattle Seahawks.

After his time with the Patriots came to an end, Vereen spent three seasons with the New York Giants (2014-17) and tried to catch on with the New Orleans Saints for one final year (2018), but he never made it to the 53-man roster.

In Houston, Vereen will be reuniting with Nick Caserio, who was New England's director of player personnel during Vereen's tenure with the team.
