This offseason has been a strange one for the New England Patriots, as there have been a number of changes, including parting ways with former head coach Bill Belichick.
However, since Belichick's been gone, he's been showing off his sense of humor and personality during the NFL draft and events like Tom Brady's roast and Patriots Hall of Fame induction ceremony.
This new version of Belichick has future Hall of Famer Rob Gronkowski reflecting on the end of his time with the team, and how if this was what it was like in New England, he might not have retired and gone to the Tampa Bay Buccaneers.
"I think coach Belichick may be my new favorite person since the roast," Gronkowski said on "Games With Names" with former Patriots wide receiver Julian Edelman. "If he just showed that personality at all while he was a head coach, I still think we would be playing with the New England Patriots and winning Super Bowls."
When Gronkowski retired following the 2018 season and the Super Bowl 53 win, many pointed at Belichick and his coaching style as the main reason for his departure. That's why he was willing to come out of retirement to play for Tampa Bay and with Tom Brady again.
Suppose Belichick was a bit more lenient, who knows what they could've accomplished over the last few seasons? There's a strong chance that he wouldn't be looking for another job now.
