While the New England Patriots are getting work done on the practice fields outside of Gillette Stadium, there's work to be done away from the field.

After Monday's minicamp session, Patriots running back Rhamondre Stevenson told the media that he believes his representation and the team are close to a contract extension.

Stevenson, 26, was selected by the Patriots in the fourth round of the 2021 NFL draft.  In his three seasons with New England, he's rushed for 2,265 yards and 14 touchdowns on 4.5 yards per carry while adding another 782 yards and a score on 121 receptions.

The Patriots haven't exactly been in the business of paying running backs since Robert Kraft bought the team in 1994. If they did extend Stevenson, he'd be just the third running back (behind Kevin Faulk and James White) and the first lead-back to see a second contract from the team.

However, with Eliot Wolf now running things as executive vice president of player personnel, New England could be willing to change up their philosophy.
