The New England Patriots held their third training camp session of the season on Friday at Gillette Stadium and rookie cornerback Kaleb Ford-Dement wasn't seen on the field.

After the practice concluded, the Patriots announced that they released the rookie.

New England signed Ford-Dement, 24, as an undrafted free agent this year out of Texas State. He played in 13 games in his lone season at the school, recording 32 tackles, seven passes defensed and three interceptions.

Ford-Dement was expected to compete for a practice squad spot this summer
