During the last decade or so under head coach Bill Belichick the New England Patriots lived and died by one phrase - "Do Your Job."
The slogan was echoed by fans and hung on banners around the building as a reminder to those playing on the field and coaching on the sideline that their goal was obtainable as long as they performed their role within the team.
However, now that Belichick is gone, those words are no longer seen inside Gillette Stadium. Instead, new head coach Jerod Mayo has a new message for his roster and staff - "Process. Progress. Payoff."
NFL Network's Cameron Wolfe shared that signs throughout the Foxborough facility now boast those three words. Others around the building say "We not me" and "Hard work works."
Patriots linebacker Ja'Whaun Bentley, speaking to the media on Thursday, shared what the new phrases mean to him and the rest of the team.
“That’s right when we walk in the door," Bentley said (via. Mike Reiss) It’s big for us. Our biggest thing now is not letting them just be slogans…Do you actually live by it?”
It's a new era in New England, and that means some things need to change. These slogans are just the start, and much more needs to follow.
