After the New England Patriots selected quarterback Drake Maye with the third overall pick in this year's draft, they doubled up at the position and grabbed Joe Milton III in the sixth round.

Milton entered New England's locker room as the fourth quarterback behind Jacoby Brissett, Maye and Bailey Zappe, but a former teammate of his believes he's going to make it at the position in the NFL.

“I definitely do, especially from his cerebral side," Detroit Lions quarterback Hendon Hooker said (via. MassLive). “He has great recall and a high football IQ. And he’s very personable in the huddle as well. He can get in the huddle, and call the plays very smoothly.”

Hooker and Milton spent two years together at Tennessee (2021-22) with the former earning the starting job. During that time, the two were extremely close, and Hooker still has nothing but good things to say about the new Patriots quarterback.

“He’s just a very charismatic guy. He cares about other people. And, he just wants to succeed,” Hooker said. “He wants others to succeed, as well. He’s very personable. He’s very energetic at times. He’s just dialed in to the task at hand. But a great guy at heart. He just really wants to see everyone win.”
