Former New England Patriots wide receiver Julian Edelman retired as a three-time Super Bowl champion, a Super Bowl MVP and one of the best slot receivers of the 2010s.
However, even when he entered the league as a seventh-round converted quarterback out of Kent State just trying to make the team as a punt returner, he was just as confident in his abilities.
Speaking on Edelman's "Games With Names" podcast this week, former Patriots quarterback Doug Flutie told an incredible story about the first time he met the wideout before his rookie season.
"You had just gotten drafted. You and I were on the sidelines at Boston College," Flutie said. "Kent State's playing, and he's standing next to me, this small college quarterback whatever, and I knew they had drafted you. You said, "Wes Welker ain't (expletive). I'm gonna do this. I'm gonna do that. I'm faster. I'm stronger.' I'm like, 'This is a cocky little quarterback right here. Good for him.' And, he went and did everything he ever talked about."
It's hilarious to know that Edelman was talking trash about Welker when he wasn't even there. It's also not too surprising, as Edelman has always been a bit of a comedian.
