The 2024 NFL draft is just over a day away, and speculation is flying every second over which player will land with which team throughout the seven-round, three-day event.

The New England Patriots currently hold the third overall pick in the draft, and they could do a number of things with that selection that would significantly alter the future of their franchise.

One of the options that New England could choose is to draft Michigan's quarterback and national champion J.J. McCarthy. That idea, while not the most popular, is one that ESPN's Jeremy Fowler had told to him by a source.

Here's what Fowler wrote in a post on Wednesday:

"McCarthy would fall somewhere after that, though I was reminded Tuesday night to not totally discount Robert Kraft's affinity for Tom Brady, who might see shades of himself in McCarthy, a fellow Michigan product. The Patriots could trade back and acquire McCarthy with a later pick."

If New England likes McCarthy the most out of the available options, that's one thing. However, if they use their first-round pick on McCarthy because he's from the same school as Brady and Brady likes him, a lot of changes need to be made in the Patriots front office and above.
