4 days till Patriots season opener: Every player to wear No. 4 for New England image

The New England Patriots will open their 2024 campaign against the Cincinnati Bengals at Paycor Stadium on Sunday, September 8 at 1:00 p.m. ET, which is now four days away.

Until the opening kickoff of the season for the Patriots, we'll be counting down each day by looking back at those who have worn each specific jersey number.

Since 1960, five players have worn No. 4 in New England, and with four days until their first game of the year, here's a look at everyone who's worn the number for the team:

RB Antonio Gibson: 2024

  • Signed this offseason to be the team's No. 2 back in 2024
  • Also played for the Washington Commanders

QB Bailey Zappe: 2022-23

  • Appeared in 14 games for New England over two seasons, completing 63.2% of his passes for 2,053 yards, 11 touchdowns and 12 interceptions
  • Signed to the Kansas City Chiefs practice squad

QB Jarrett Stidham: 2019-20

  • Appeared in eight games for New England over two seasons, completing 50% of his passes for 270 yards, two touchdowns and four interceptions
  • Also played for the Denver Broncos and Las Vegas Raiders

K Adam Vinatieri: 1996-2005

  • Appeared in 160 games for New England over 10 seasons, making 81.9% of his field goals and 98.1% of his extra points. 
  • Won three Super Bowls and made two All-Pros and one two Pro Bowls with the Patriots
  • Also played for the Indianapolis Colts (won a Super Bowl and made an All-Pro and a Pro Bowl)

K Jason Staurovsky: 1988-91

  • Appeared in 40 games for New England over four seasons, making 72.5% of his field goals and 96.96% of his extra points
  • Also played for the New York Jets and St. Louis Cardinals

P Jerrel Wilson: 1978

  • Appeared in 14 games for New England in one season, averaging 35.6 yards per punt
  • Also played for the Kansas City Chiefs (made three Pro Bowls and won a Super Bowl)
