The New England Patriots will open their 2024 campaign against the Cincinnati Bengals at Paycor Stadium on Sunday, September 8 at 1:00 p.m. ET, which is now 31 days away.

Until the opening kickoff of the season for the Patriots, we'll be counting down each day by looking back at those who have worn each specific jersey number.

Since 1960, 20 players have worn No. 31 in New England, and with 31 days until their first game of the year, here's a look at everyone who's worn the number for the team:

CB Jonathan Jones: 2016-Present

  • Has appeared in 115 games for New England over his first eight seasons, recording 378 tackles (four for a loss), 51 passes defensed, 11 interceptions, eight forced fumbles, seven quarterback hits, 2.5 sacks and two fumble recoveries
  • Won two Super Bowls with the Patriots
  • Expected to be a starter in 2024

DB Dewey McDonald: 2015

  • Appeared in one game for New England in one season
  • Also played for the Indianapolis Colts, Seattle Seahawks and Oakland Raiders

CB Aqib Talib: 2012-13

  • Appeared in 19 games for New England over two seasons, recording 41 tackles, 16 passes defensed, five interceptions, two fumble recoveries and one forced fumble
  • Made a Pro Bowl with the Patriots
  • Also played for the Tampa Bay Buccaneers, Denver Broncos and Los Angeles Rams
  • Made four Pro Bowls, made an All-Pro and won a Super Bowl with the Broncos 

DB Sergio Brown: 2011

  • Appeared in 26 games for New England over two seasons, recording 48 tackles, one interception and a fumble recovery
  • Also played for the Indianapolis Colts, Buffalo Bills and Jacksonville Jaguars

DB Brandon Meriweather: 2007-10

  • Appeared in 64 games for New England over four seasons, recording 263 tackles (11 for a loss), 27 passes defensed, 12 interceptions, five forced fumbles, two sacks and a fumble recovery
  • Made two Pro Bowls
  • Also played for the Chicago Bears, New York Giants and Washington

CB Antwain Spann: 2006

  • Appeared in 19 games for New England over three seasons, recording 13 tackles

RB Amos Zereoue: 2005

  • Appeared in three games for New England in one season, rushing for 14 yards on two yards per attempt and catching one pass for five yards
  • Also played for the Pittsburgh Steelers and Oakland Raiders

DB Hank Poteat: 2004

  • Appeared in 12 games for New England in over three seasons, recording 21 tackles, one pass defended, one forced fumble and a sack
  • Won a Super Bowl with the Patriots
  • Also played for the New York Jets, Pittsburgh Steelers, Cleveland Browns and Tampa Bay Buccaneers

FB Larry Centers: 2003

  • Appeared in nine games for New England in one season, catching 19 passes for 106 yards and a touchdown and rushing for 82 yards on 3.9 yards per attempt
  • Also played for the Phoenix/Arizona Cardinals, Buffalo Bills and Washington

DB Ben Kelly: 2001-02

  • Appeared in four games for New England over two seasons, recording five tackles
  • Won a Super Bowl with the Patriots
  • Also played for the Miami Dolphins

DB Kato Serwanga: 1999-2000

  • Appeared in 31 games for New England over two seasons, recording 82 tackles (four for a loss), seven passes defensed, three interceptions, three sacks and three fumble recoveries
  • Also played for the New York Giants and Washington

DB Jimmy Hitchcock: 1995-97

  • Appeared in 37 games for New England over four seasons, recording 119 tackles, four interceptions and a forced fumble
  • Also played for the Carolina Panthers and Minnesota Vikings

DB Fred Marion: 1982-91

  • Appeared in 144 games for New England over 10 seasons, recording 29 interceptions and 13 fumble recoveries
  • Made a Pro Bowl with the Patriots

DB Jon Sawyer: 1987

  • Appeared in two games for New England as a replacement player during the strike

RB Leon McQuay: 1975

  • Appeared in 13 games for New England in one season, rushing for 47 yards on 1.4 yards per attempt and catching four passes for 27 yards
  • Also played for the New York Giants and New Orleans Saints

RB Josh Ashton: 1972-74

  • Appeared in 38 games for New England over three seasons, rushing for 950 yards and three touchdowns on 3.8 yards per attempt and catching 33 passes for 320 yards and a touchdown
  • Also played for the St. Louis Cardinals

WR Bill Murphy: 1968

  • Appeared for six games for Boston in one season, catching 18 passes for 268 yards

DB Vic Purvis: 1966-67

  • Appeared for 16 games for Boston over two seasons, returning five punts for 43 yards and eight kicks for 185 yards

FB Harry Crump: 1963

  • Appeared in 14 games for Boston in one season, rushing for 120 yards and five touchdowns on 2.4 yards per attempt and catching six passes for 46 yards

DB/P Clyde Washington: 1960-61

  • Appeared in 27 games for Boston over two seasons, recording seven interceptions and totaling 539 yards on 17 punts
