23 days till Patriots season opener: Every player to wear No. 23 for New England image

The New England Patriots will open their 2024 campaign against the Cincinnati Bengals at Paycor Stadium on Sunday, September 8 at 1:00 p.m. ET, which is now 23 days away.

Until the opening kickoff of the season for the Patriots, we'll be counting down each day by looking back at those who have worn each specific jersey number.

Since 1960, 23 players have worn No. 23 in New England, and with 23 days until their first game of the year, here's a look at everyone who's worn the number for the team:

DB Kyle Dugger: 2021-23

  • Has appeared in 61 games for New England over his first four seasons, recording 343 tackles (17 for a loss), 20 passes defensed, nine interceptions, nine quarterback hits, 2.5 sacks, two forced fumbles and two fumble recoveries
  • Expected to be the team's top safety in 2024

DB Patrick Chung: 2014-19

  • Appeared in 141 games for New England over 10 seasons, recording 719 tackles (20 for a loss), 54 passes defensed, 12 quarterback hits, 11 interceptions, 4.5 sacks, four fumble recoveries and two forced fumbles
  • Won three Super Bowls with the Patriots
  • Also played for the Philadelphia Eagles

DB Marquice Cole: 2012-13

  • Appeared in 27 games for New England over two seasons, recording 32 tackles (three for a loss), five passes defensed, two interceptions and one fumble recovery
  • Also played for the New York Jets

DB Leigh Bodden: 2009-11

  • Appeared in 20 games for New England over two seasons, recording 73 tackles (one for a loss), 23 passes defensed, five interceptions and two fumble recoveries
  • Also played for the Cleveland Browns and Detroit Lions

DB Nate Jones: 2011

  • Appeared in five games for New England in one season, recording 19 tackles and a pass defensed
  • Also played for the Dallas Cowboys, Miami Dolphins and Denver Broncos

DB Jason Webster: 2008

  • Appeared in three games for New England in one season, recording five tackles and a forced fumble
  • Also played for the San Francisco 49ers, Atlanta Falcons and Buffalo Bills

DB Willie Andrews: 2006-07

  • Appeared in 30 games for New England over two seasons, recording 23 tackles

DB Duane Starks: 2005

  • Appeared in seven games for New England in one season, recording 28 tackles and five pass defensed
  • Also played for the Baltimore Ravens (won a Super Bowl), Arizona Cardinals and Oakland Raiders

DB Omare Lowe: 2004

  • Appeared in three games for New England in one season
  • Won a Super Bowl with the Patriots
  • Also played for the Atlanta Falcons, Jacksonville Jaguars, Miami Dolphins and New York Jets

DB Shawn Mayer: 2004

  • Appeared in 12 games for New England over two seasons, recording 17 tackles
  • Won a Super Bowl with the Patriots

DB Antwan Harris: 2000-03

  • Appeared in 52 games for New England over four seasons, recording 52 tackles (one for a loss), three passes defensed, one interception, one sack and a fumble recovery

  • Appeared in two games for New England in one season, recording two tackles

RB Joe Wilson: 1974

  • Appeared in 12 games for New England in one season, rushing for 57 yards on 3.8 yards per attempt and catching three passes for 38 yards
  • Also played for the Cincinnati Bengals

DB George Hoey: 1972-73

  • Appeared in 12 games for New England over two seasons, recording an interception and returning nine kicks for 210 yards

DB Daryl Johnson: 1968-70

  • Appeared in 42 games for Boston over three seasons, recording five interceptions, two fumble recoveries and a sack

DB Ron Hall: 1961-67

  • Appeared in 88 games for Boston over seven seasons, recording 29 interceptions and 3.5 sacks
  • Made one AFL All-Star and one All-AFL team

RB Ray Ratkowski: 1961

  • Appeared in one game for Boston, returning one kick for 17 yards

RB Dick Christy: 1960

  • Appeared in 13 games for Boston in one season, rushing for 363 yards and three touchdowns on 4.7 yards per attempt and catching 26 passes for 268 yards and two touchdowns
