On Tuesday, the New England Patriots officially signed their third overall pick from this year's draft, quarterback Drake Maye, to his rookie contract.

According to KPRC2's Aaron Wilson, Maye's contract is $36.639 million fully guaranteed. He'll earn $23.47 million in signing bonuses (prorated at $5.87 million per season). He also has training camp bonuses in his final three years of $1.5 million, $3.05 million and $3.6 million.

If Maye plays well, New England could pick up a fully guaranteed fifth-year option for the 2028 season. It's unknown how much that will be worth because those options can be worth more based on playtime and Pro Bowl appearances.

For instance, according to Over the Cap, this year's basic quarterback fifth-year option (for the first-round picks of the 2021 draft) are set to make $22.41 million. If they've played over 50% of their snaps in their first three seasons, it jumps to $25.66 million. The option for a quarterback who made one Pro Bowl is $34.37 million, and the option for a quarterback who made multiple Pro Bowls is $38.3 million.

Those numbers will keep going up as the revenue continues to climb in the NFL, so expect Maye's fifth-year option, if he's offered it, to be significantly higher.
