While the preseason doesn't usually bring much excitement, there's plenty to look for in the New England Patriots' first game against the Carolina Panthers.

One of the most interesting points to watch for in the preseason opener was when rookie quarterback Drake Maye, who is expected to start the regular season as the backup, sees the field.

Fans didn't have to wait long at Gillette Stadium on Thursday, as starting quarterback Jacoby Brissett got just one drive of work, allowing Maye to enter the game in the first quarter.

On his first drive, Maye completed two of his passes for 19 total yards with the third pass going between Jalen Reagor's hands.

Maye was taken out after just that one drive, and Bailey Zappe entered the game for the next drive.

Will Jerod Mayo continue to rotate his quarterbacks throughout the game?
