The New England Patriots have played poorly over the first month of the season, dropping their last three games after shockingly upsetting the Cincinnati Bengals in Week 1.
However, a 17-game season is long, and any team can win in this league on any given game day.
Looking ahead at New England's upcoming schedule, Patriots defensive lineman Davon Godchaux feels optimistic about his team in the next few weeks.
“The next few games are very winnable for us,” Godchaux said after New England's 30-13 loss to the San Francisco 49ers on Sunday (via. the Boston Herald's Doug Kyed). We could easily be 4-3. It’s a long season, but we can’t keep having the same conversation...I like our chances against Miami. We gotta look at them on film, Mike McDaniel always a good play-caller on offense. But I like our chances.”
The Patriots take on the Dolphins without Tua Tagovailoa in Week 5. Then, they'll have a tough test against C.J. Stroud and the Houston Texans the next week. But, New England will face the currently winless Jacksonville Jaguars in Week 7 in London before hosting the New York Jets in their second meeting of the season.
According to Aaron Schatz, New England has also faced the most difficult schedule (by DVOA) in the NFL and has the easiest schedule remaining.
It wouldn't be surprising to see the Patriots win a game or two in the next month, but considering how horrible they've looked early on, it's hard to feel confident about any of these contests.
