Roughly a month ago, the New England Patriots gave center David Andrews a one-year extension to keep him under contractor through the 2025 season, which would be his 11th with the team.
For the first time since signing that extension, Andrews spoke to the media on Monday after New England's first mandatory minicamp session, and he was able to speak about what that means to him.
"It was huge," Andrews said. "Obviously, I want to finish my career here and finish it the right way. I care a lot about this organization, and to have that go both ways means a lot. I'm super excited. I'm super excited to be a part of the change and do whatever I can to help the organization for however long I can keep doing it. We'll just keep figuring it out."
When Andrews missed the 2019 season with a heart issue, there were questions about his future in the game, and he's bounced back without missing a beat. He'll continue to be a resource for his teammates as well as a stable force in the middle of the line for at least the next two years.
