The New England Patriots continue to suffer injuries to key players early in their 2024 season, as center David Andrews left Sunday's matchup against the San Francisco 49ers due to a shoulder injury.
While it had already been reported early Wednesday morning that Andrews would need surgery at some point to fix his shoulder issue, it was unknown whether or not he'd try to play through it and get surgery in the offseason.
Now, according to NFL Network's Ian Rapoport, Andrews is expected to get season-ending surgery and land on injured reserve.
This is a huge blow to New England's already struggling offense, as their offensive line has dealt with injuries at other positions already.
For now, the Patriots will have to ride with Nick Leverett as the team's starting center despite the fact that guard is his true position.
New England already lost backup center Jake Andrews to a season-ending knee injury during training camp, so they'll need to make another move to at least bring in one other center to their practice squad or 53-man roster. Hopefully, they grab someone with some NFL snapping experience.
