Patriots are doing the right thing with Christian Barmore's contract

The New England Patriots don't exactly have the most talented roster in the NFL, and they lost a big piece early in training camp when defensive lineman Christian Barmore was diagnosed with blood clots.

Since then, Barmore has popped up a practice or two as a spectator, but he hasn't been working with his teammates.

Last week, New England placed the former second-round pick on the non-football injury list, meaning he'll have to miss at least four weeks in 2024, but there's no guarantee he'll be back to play at all this year.

With Barmore landing on NFI, the Patriots could've opted not to pay him while he was on the list, but New England will reportedly pay him his full salary, according to NFL Network's Ian Rapoport.

This is a classy move by the Patriots, but it's also one they probably had to do from a public relations perspective. If they didn't pay the guy who just got a new contract while he's recovering from a life-threatening condition, it would've looked horrible.

Still, good on New England for doing it.
