After the Minnesota Vikings extended wide receiver Justin Jefferson, the future of the franchise had it's course set. He is primed to lead the Vikings into the next era with the hopes of winning the franchise's first Super Bowl.

With the extension brought a lot of clarity to the Vikings' salary cap future. By doing so, the team can start looking at other players who are eligible for a contract extension. One of those is cornerback Byron Murphy Jr.

He spoke to SKOR North's Darren Wolfson about his future and Murphy gave a very honest answer.

"I don't think I'm going anywhere. That's my mindset. I want to stay here. I love this place. I gotta say since I've been here since day one, I fell in love so I don't want to go nowhere. I want to stay here for the rest of my career. Love these guys in this locker room, everything about this place is great. So I'm gonna try to work my ass off to stay here for sure."

Sometimes you get answers like this from players because it's a good PR answer. When you get most of the roster speaking this positively on the entire organization, it's a sign of good things and reflects the Vikings' nearly flawless NFLPA report card.

Wolfson did press Murphy about wanting to stay in Minnesota, specifically mentioning having his agent blow up salary cap guru Rob Brzezinski about an extension.

"Right now, I'm just locked in and you know, I'm gonna, you know God wants to take care of all those things. I'm gonna just come by or keep playing ball but obviously, I want to stay here. I want to keep you know making noise running so I can stay and get their attention for sure."

Right now, Murphy is playing on the final year of a two-year contract that has him with a $10.91 million cap hit in 2024. The Vikings could shrink the cap hit considerably if they were to extend him past the 2024 season if they chose to.

Don't be surprised if the Vikings make a move to extend Murphy or someone else before the beginning of the 2024 season.
