The Minnesota Vikings announced their first round of roster cuts Monday morning, before the Tuesday afternoon deadline. The new roster total now stands at 77 players.
The following 13 players were placed on waivers, where teams can claim them if they choose to.
QB: Matt Corral
RB: DeWayne McBride
RB: Mohamed Ibrahim
WR: Justin Hall
TE: Sammis Reyes
TE: Neal Johnson
OL: Doug Nester
OL: Chuck Filliaga
OL: Spencer Rolland
OL: Matt Cindric
EDGE: Owen Porter
DL: Tyler Manoa
CB: Jaylin Williams
Veteran cornerback A.J Green III was also released, but since he is a vested veteran, he can bypass waivers and join the free agency group.
Teams must trim the roster to 53 players before the Tuesday deadline in preparation for the regular season.
None of the players the team let go were overly surprising. McBride was a potential name to watch during training camp to compete for the third running back spot, but a lousy camp and underwhelming preseason left too much to be desired. Owen Porter is a name the team could try to bring back to the practice squad once he clears waivers, but that is about it.
Vikings are placing offensive lineman Dalton Risner on IR. He will be eligible to come back after four games.

In addition, the team added veteran offensive lineman Dalton Risner to the Injured Reserve list. Risner will be exempt from the 53-man roster while on IR and eligible to return after four games. The move will allow the team to keep Risner on the team while not blocking a roster spot from a younger player they are afraid of losing through waivers on cutdown day.
